    Dell XPS M1530
    Geforce 8600M GT

I want to play a little call of duty when i'm on the move, but its really laggy less than 10fps, when its on the charger i get 40fps.

Is the Nvidia card underclocking itself to save battery?

I've changed the battery plan from balance to high performance but its not much better. :(

Yes. Exit the game, force it to use all high performance modes (CPU and GPU) then open the game again.

Definitely not a worthwhile amount of time.

    How do you do this?

And sure the battery life sucks, but for me it's just to log on a game (eg. WoW) for a few mins to check stuff and the poor fps makes it nearly unplayable

RM clock to disable lower power states for the CPU, nvidia control panel, open advanced settings, under mobile, configure powermizer settings - disable powermizer.

You can play call of duty 4 while on battery!

Just make sure your power plan is set to high performance, and that all of the advanced power options for this plan are set to high performance.

I have done this myself, you get about 40 mins gameplay i think...

One thing though, if you just have the touchpad it may not be much use for gaming anyway, I certainly had fun trying to get some kills in lol

I used to game on my Inspiron 9200 with the touchpad all the time :)
Just takes a bit of getting used to.

I've tried both the newest laptopvideo2go drivers & the newest from dell and neither have the option for mobile under advanced (or even custom).

And I have tried high performance and even increasing the min clock speed on my processor. Still the same poor fps (Dell M1530 8600M GT)
