Hey,
I probably won't do this often but was curious if you had an M1530 and were going to play Day of Defeat: Source on a 32" HDTV via HDMI would it slow down the performance of the game?
Since it would be driving such a large display? Even though the resolution of the TV is around the same as the laptop screen itself?
Or would it only slow down if the resolution of the TV was higher (which isn't possible in this case).
Basically does the size of an external screen make a difference to performance if the resolution is the same/similar.
EDIT: If the M1530 even lets you output via HDMI when gaming.

It shouldn't if running a clone or single display configuration. As you've noted, if the resolution is the same then 'blowing up' the image won't do anything to performance. The only thing that could affect it is how the video card must process the data for the HDMI connection, but I wouldn't expect that to affect performance greatly.

No I've played Call of Duty via HDMI on my 42'' and it looks totally amazing with no performance issues whatsoever. The only negative from outputting to HDMI is more battery life drain a result of higher resolution. The additional amount of processing power to do that really is insignificant and should not affect performance whatsoever, though if your next to a TV... there should be a nearby outlet.

It feels weird playing on HDMI, my mouse goes crazy and a little movement moves it all over the screen lol.

I play Mass Effect on my 56 inch Samsung and it looks beautiful. One interesting note is that the resolution changes to 1900x1200 when I connect to the TV. It still runs the game fine.

Yes it runs fine, aslong as you run the same resolutions you normally use.
Be aware that the refresh rate gets cut in half* when using HDTV.
Its awesome playing RTS games on a 32". Not very good for competitive FPS games, you need to get used to it
Gaming performance when outputting via HDMI?
