It looks like you can build an XPS16 in any of ten million ways, but this is one combination I haven't found.

    Does it exist?

And to those with experience with the XPS16 and the XPS13, is the added size and weight of the 16 noticeable?

    Thanks!

Not sure what you are talking about. I have a SXPS 1645 with an i7-820 and Blur-Ray burner.

I have a XPS 1645 in USA with i7 and BluRay....read somewhere else today on the forum that there might be a part shortage on BR so DELL took that option off their configuration....seems crazy.

It was available a few days ago

There are MAJOR shortages for the BD drives so Dell has removed the option for now.

Blu Ray is not that big of a deal either way, just my opinion.

I have the XPS 1645 and got it without Blu-Ray. I am an avid iTunes user, so any movies I watch are from iTunes anyway.

I like the laptop a lot. It's really heavy though. I mean really heavy. Also, it will not fit into most laptop bags...

That's the thing that worries me. Size and weight.

The 1645 is almost 2" wider than my 1320, and an inch deeper. And near to 2 pounds heavier.

Size and weight? The SXPS 16 is an amazing laptop and is VERY mobile friendly. Nice and slim, and not heavy at all. Very light compared to my brothers alienware and gateway gaming p series laptops.

I disagree it's make or break it with me. I must have Blu-Ray. This machine is kickass when it comes to multimedia and Blu-Ray.

I personally don't use iTunes as I no longer have an iPod and have grown to despise Apple and the DRM loving iTunes.

You can always either get an external down the road or Dell replacement for the internal. Otherwise, just wait a few weeks, it should come around.

On the subject of weight/size. I got Studio 17, so I think XPS 16 is fairly portable :).
