ESet security suite here. I also run a couple of standalone scanner every once in a while to keep bad guys from my info.

As for OC settings, grab a copy of rivatuner and atitool. 8600 should be able to pull off 600/800 at the very least (you can probably push it to 700/950 if you are a daredevil ;)). Don't forget to run atitool to scan for artifacts.

A free anti-virus. I have it too and satisfied with it. You might want to try out Comodo as a firewall.

If you want to use official DELL video drivers for your M1530, try the one provided for the M1330. It can be used for the 8600M GT and it seems that it's quite good. I installed it today but haven't been able to test it yet ...

AVG is simply the best antivirus software that is free and doesn't overly bloat ure pc, unlike... [shudder]... norton.
Worth getting, but lots of people combine it with Ad-Aware and Spybot- Search and Destroy for extra protection. AVG alone doesn't pick up everything- just leave the other two off most of the time to keep the pc running smoothly.

I'm pretty sure that purple with yellow dots is the fastest possible color, but unfortunately Dell doesn't have that option. :p

According to the Tick, nothing is faster than the speed of Lint....kinda makes you wonder if the color of Lint is fastest.

I was using 174.31 from Dell, now updated to... 174.74 (or .73, don't remember) and well, I didn't notice any difference.

Anyway, I read 600/900 are a good overclock settings. (With Rivatuner)
