After doing a new install on my new HDD, and whatnot, I install a few games. WoW being one of them. Yeah, I like to play it. But not addicted like some people lol. So after getting the patches and whatnot. I log in, setup my res and all that. I have to set to 1920x1200 with med details. The game is unplayable. I'm like WTH. So then I put the res to 1280x800. Still unplayable at med settings. WTH is going on here. Screwing around with video settings, the highest FPS I was able to get outta of it was 15 FPS. Something is wrong here. I update my video drivers. Nothing. Defrag my hdd. Nothing. Possibly a bad WoW install, i'm thinking. Any idea's would help. And this is happening, when i'm at the Dwarf starting place.

It's not your computer AT ALL

    so leave it alone............

ok, what's going on is that the Wrath of Lynch King is coming out and they are doing some MASSIVE updates to hardware and what not

if you noticed you got a huge patch the other day (the log in screen now has a dragon)

All those cool changes are wreaking havoc at Blizz side servers...just wait a while

trust me it's been a couple of days where I'm caught casting an instant spell for 5 minutes :p

    lol

    Hope this helps

So after a few days of not playing WoW, I pop on today. Still doing the same thing. So then I decided to go onto my other computer. The other computer don't even compare to my laptop not even close. It has a massive AMD Sempron 3100+, 1GB of ram *have 2 sticks of 512MB in it, one is a Patriot stick and the other is a no name brand*, a massive and this is pretty massive, get ready for this one a GeForce 420 64MB. Told you it was massive lol. But anyways, I can on that computer and it's better performance then my laptop. I'm in SW and i'm getting a steady 20-25 FPS, while on my laptop was 15 FPS at the Dwarf starting place. Something is not right here. Everything on my laptop is up to date. Everything. I'm outta idea's for this thing.

Is it lagging in just that game or is a general problem with the computer?
If its just the game: then TURBO's post applies.

If its all applications: First thing I'd say is to check what power setting the lappie is in?
Of the vast majority of posts with poor gpu performance, most had the system set to powersaver (mine is incapable of rendering late 90's games when in powersaver mode) so start there

You have to check a couple of things dude...like stated above the power settings is a HUGE factor (trust me I played around with them to check ...using WoW aslo....) the difference between power safe mode and just balanced is big...

also dude...there is a difference between being in SW (loads of toons that your computer has to render at one time) and the dwarf starting place (almost no people there...unless you mean IF then ignore this comment LOL )

Also a factor...your internet connection..if they are connected to the same network...if one is wireless and the other is wired...big difference especially if your wireless and have only b/g and are far away from the router..you'll lag like a mofo

I have my power setting on Performance. Changed it to Balance. Did nothing. Put back to Performance. Did nothing.

My laptop is connected by wireless. I decided to try wired. Did nothing. When connected wireless, i'm no more then 15 feet away from the router.

I think i'm going to put my 250GB back in. Cause all this started to happen as soon as I put in my 320GB.

As for the SW and Dwarf starting point, my other computer performed better in Both places.

So, I got home from work for lunch. Put in my 250GB hdd. Popped onto WoW. And guess what, steady 60 FPS @ 1920X1200 with max details in SW. Flew to IF. Still a steady 60 FPS.

All 3 of my hdd are the same. The Seagate 7200.3. The only difference is, one is 250GB and the other 2 are 320GB. So anyone know why, it's performing so poorly on my 320GB. Both hdd have the same updates and everything.
