I have quite a few videos on my m1330 and I would much rather watch them on my TV (47" 1080p). I have a HDMI cable and I connect to my TV and it all works just fine but I was hoping there is some software to clear up some of that graininess or make the picture sharper and better looking?

My guess is they're DVD rips or some other form of 480i/p content. Welcome to the world of resizing/stretching images. HDTVs are only good if you're going to watch HD content on them, because they make most things under HD (720p or 1080p) generally look worse. There are some programs you can use (take ffdshow for example) that you can customize to improve video quality...but as it stands right now it won't look too good. On the bright side, you're future-proofed. When 720p/1080i becomes the standard for TV...it'll look great.

Is ffdshow a separate player or a codec?

It's a video encoder/decoder that works with most current players.

OK, so I just downloaded ffdshow. Should I change anything or select any boxes in the configuration (such as post-processing or sharpening) or do I simply leave the default settings?

Does it also work with VLC?
