Well, I finally broke down last week and bought me a mint, like new
Dell XPS 13 9360 Intel Core i7-7660U 2.5GHz 16GB RAM 512GB SSD QHD+ Touch laptop off eBay for $500.
Amazon sells it right now refurbished for $1,199.88! And it's not a touchscreen.

So I got a good deal. Here is proof I actually paid $500 for it! (some might think I'm windy)

Hopefully this one will last me another five years like my former Dell XPS 13 L322x, which is a backup now.

There's always better value going used, if you know how to fix it.

I have an XPS painted at the top and bottom of this website:
https://moskovita-photography.com/notebookpaint.htm
I had to swap out my XPS 13 L322x battery twice...once every 2 years or so, a 15 minute job and thinking of putting in a new battery in this XPS 13 9360 right away as batteries do age over time.
On average, a laptop battery lasts about 1,000 charge cycles or between 2-4 years of typical useLast edited: Sep 1, 2021pressing likes this. -
Wow... not many comments... seems the forum is fading a bit?
I got the laptop yesterday, took six days to get here.
Very happy with it...got lucky like I did with the last XPS I got.
This is like brand new, apparently not used much. No scuffs/scratches anywhere, even on the bottom. Battery is still in excellent health. I was concerned the battery would maybe need replacing, so this is good. (10 hours and 13 minutes web browsing when new). I'll know how long the battery last unplugged soon. If I can reach 6-8 hours I'll be happy.
Build Date was 10/2/2017 so not quite four years old.
I like the fact I can use my Cross Stylus pen on the touchscreen = no finger prints.
My last (now backup) Dell XPS 13 L322X Ultrabook still working great, but I wanted to upgrade to newer as it's 8 years old now. Improvements are four year newer faster 7th gen i7-7660U 2.5GHz , 8GB more memory to 16GB, 256GB to 512GB SSD, 1920 x 1080 pixel to QHD+ resolution 3200×1800 touchscreen, faster GPU - Intel HD Graphics 620, battery has Outstanding result in test – (10 hours and 13 minutes web browsing)... so it's quite an upgrade. Oh yes, I got it for $500. I noticed the refurbished ones are still sold under Amazon, Walmart and others for between $1,000 - $1,500. So I'm a happy camper.Attached Files:

Just web surfing, checking email I got 9 hours 5 minutes. So I'm a happy camper.
Next battery test will be when I have 10-15 webpages open and using Photoshop CS6.
But first I have to install several programs I use and that will be plugged in. -
That looks to be a pretty good deal.
Right now, the least expensive XPS 13 on the Dell outlet with 16GB ram and 512GB ssd is $1063 (i7-1165G7). That has a touch screen and a better processor...but is more than twice the price.
The higher speeds, core count, TDP may seem attractive for some tasks but the XPS is tiny so power and thermally constrained. Real world differences may not be so significant. -

Only real difference between the XPS 13 and bigger laptops is the bigger laptops have dedicated GPU, but that only helps like if your playing games. -
Just going through your painting site. I think I am going to do my wife's 3179 the same color as her new samsung when we get it. Lilac color. It comes completely apart so painting it will be easy. Something to set it off from the rest. Her's is storm grey now. There are no wraps available for it and I think where it has rounded corners, it would not work great anyways. My friend and I do all sorts of different customization work on motorcycles, guitars etc. So painting the computer will be easy.

Wonderful nature photos Jack! Thanks for linking your photography site.
Did you know that photography is very popular in Japan? Walking around Tokyo, one can't help bumping into small photography galleries all over the place. Well worth a visit once the pandemic clears up. -
I don't know about galleries on East Coast here, but on the West Coast your lucky to find one in any given city.
I've thought about starting one for my photos, but it takes $$$ to rent the space, then getting all the photos printed and mounted to hang on the walls. My Uncle wanted me to do that and was going to fund it but he passed away last monthHere is a website I did in memory of him as he died while we were on vacation at that very same lake you saw that I'm putting on my laptop. I hope you and others enjoy it:

I've been doing wildlife, birds, nature, mountain lakes photography seriously since 1971 and my Dad and Grandpa did it for a living as well, so it runs in the family. The WA Forest Service, Mt Rainier Paradise Visitors Center Store and others buys my photo's as well. Tomorrow I'm actually going Elk hunting (with the camera) as it's peak rutting season right now... I'm after a bull fightHere is one from a couple years ago. I hope it's OK to post this here?
More Elk here:

A lot of the displays are for photo contests and recreational clubs. Some sell art also. The big camera makers and corporations underwrite a lot of the spaces. Tokyo is the largest city in the world (25 million+ people) and very wealthy so good art & good food are everywhere.

Maybe some of you here have input on this? That would be great! -
I commented somewhere on here. Might have a look on dell's site or Microsoft's for manual updating procedures. Love the skin, looks great!

I ironed out all the bugs and it's running flawlessly. The battery is still doing pretty good as I got 7 minutes short of 6 hours with 2% battery left, running 10-12 online pages and slide show in between. I still ordered a new OEM battery so I could get the advertised 10-12 hours of battery run time. I like to take my laptop with me when I got out shooting wildlife and landscapes to see exactly how the pics look as on the small 3" camera Screen you can't really see the details. I've come home too many times and when I put the pics on my screen, sometime they didn't look so good. So I can correct it while out on the field. Plus, I'm taking a trip back east and it's nice to have that on the plane.
I really like this laptop. It's my fourth one over the years.Last edited: Nov 6, 2021 -

They have a very good reputation.
They were referred to me from this forum and Dell.com as well. -
I recently purchased a keyboard from parts-people for a XPS 9550; the keyboard is excellent.

Well sadly, it's goodbye to this great forum. All great things end someday.
