I was in the market for an ultrabook and have been for quite come time. I have an Asus G73SW and I love it, but honestly, i don't game so much on PC anymore and with the PS4 just around the corner, i thought i'd pull a trigger on that ultrabook. I had 3 contenders, the XPS 13, the Asus Zenbook Infinity and the Samsung ATIV Ultrabook that has a 1600p resolution and dual-boots Android + Win 8. The last 2 mentioned have been announced, but no release date nor pricing yet. My final decision came today when i though i hit a deal that i simply couldn't pass on, plus dell offered me 12 month of no interest financing. Yes, i wanted to wait for haswell refresh but no one knows when that will come, and besides, the difference might not be that much between the 4th and 3rd gen CPU that the latest XPS 13 has.
So, i got this deal, the XPS 13 with 1080p and 512GB SSD, for some reason that no one was able to explain, is almost 400$ less in the business section than the home section, plus it comes with Win 8 pro as opposed to Win 7. I also got 2 years of onsite warranty + accidental + the mini-display to HDMI + the USB to USB data transfer cable, all for 1842$ taxes included, shipping and all other fees. I think this is a brilliant deal, any other ultrabook with 1080p screen + 512GB SSD + 2 years of warranty would cost at least a good 4-500$ more. The reason why i got this deal is simply because i chatted to an agent from sales and said my coupon rebate that was given to me by airmiles doesn't work on business laptops, so she got me a bunch of freebies instead.
The problem i have is, i'm a very techy guy, i'm addicted to the latest and greatest technology, i kinda feel bad i didn't wait for haswell, i also would of hopes the flagship XPS would be upgraded to 1200P, but also, i'm certain that dell would have bumped up the prices of the XPS 13 with haswell with 512gb ssd to over 2K.
In any case, i'm new to dell, always was a big Asus fan, and I still am, but for now, i'm on Dell's side. My dad has an Adamo and he always bragged about it as being not only a great machine, but a piece of art, and i have to agree with him, it is gorgeous.
What do you guys think of this deal, did i hit it, or did i just get a regular deal?

It seems like a pretty good deal, I'm considering the xps 12 but I will only get a machine with haswell. I have heard some horror stories with dells, but I have also heard some stories where they wouldn't break down. I hope your machine won't be a lemon and work well lol.

I ordered a XPS 13 L322X refurbished from Dell for $800 total with the following specs:
1080p screen
i7 dual core
8gb ram
256gb SSD
1 yr onsite warranty
I wouldn't call $1800 a deal considering the upgrade in ssd size and warranty length isn't worth $1000. In the end I cancelled the order and opted for the same config with 128gb ssd for $650. The laptop got here yesterday and it looks brand new except for the refurb sticker. The power on time for the ssd was less than 5 hours according to smart data. -
It actually does explain the price, the warranty by itself is 500$ and its not 2 years in total, but 2 year on top of the existing 1 year, that 3 years (remember i have a business warranty), the SSD is easily an extra 300-400$, with the accessories, that was 140$, plus taxes, yes it does make sense, also its hard to compare the price of a refurb to new, the new laptop with 256gb ssd is 1599$, you got it for 600$ less. I'm tryiog to compare to a equivalent ultrabook of the same category and was not able to find one for less than 2500$

If you can justify it as a good deal, then you have a good deal xD

i'm quite happy, i'll see when i actually get the laptop
