    Hello friends,
Am really happy i got my dell xps and am loving the machine to bits but there is only one thing that is bugging me currently and it is the graphics card.

    I have a nvidia geforce 8600M Gt 256MB

When ever am playing NFS Pro street(its the only game i play), i get stuttering issues even with the setting low. I have the world setting completely off. Its only car detail thats on low and medium where it allows. I dunno why i am getting stuttering with this. i have BIOS A09 if that really matters and between my temps never go above 70 degrees celcius even when gaming.

So pls some one out there pls help me out...Its really bugging the **** outta me.

Have you installed the latest patch for the game? I personally found that got rid of stuttering. Also update your drivers with drivers from laptopvideo2go.com

Check you have your power options set to high performance when gaming?

I would like to know more about the video drivers also. Can someone point me in the right direction on which drivers from laptopvideo2go.com to get and how to change the inf file so they can be installed?

    Thanks

On laptopvideo2go, click the latest version on the right side of the main page, make sure you pick the one for your system (currently 177.98 for 32bit OS).

This should bring you to their forum thread, there's one link to the actual driver, download it and extract it somewhere. Right beside the driver download link there's a link to a modded .inf file, download this one and paste it in the extracted driver folder, overwrite when prompted.

Now go to "Uninstall or change a program" (found in Computer in Vista) or "Add/remove programs" found in control panel in XP. Look for your old nVidia drivers and uninstall them.

    Reboot.

Install the new driver from the setup.exe file found in the extracted folder of the new driver (Before you install them you must have pasted the modded .inf file over the old one, as I instructed earlier).

    When finished installing, reboot again.

Run your game, report back here if you still got problems.

You can also use those drivers for 8600M GT without changing the .inf file (Don't forget to uninstall any old drivers before you install new ones, and reboot in between):

@kunal2sh, it doesn't say which cards the original .inf supports, I guess you could check it somewhere. Since it's a newer version (although not the newest) you'll probably need to use the modded .inf.

I’m using 177.66. Personally I love this driver. Use the OEM inf when install.

After your extract the driver, find original_inf.zip and extract it. Use nvdm.inf.
This for Dell original inf. It will improve the performance a bit.

Does that work well for an M1330 with 8400M GS as well? I installed the latest drivers on my laptop, but I'm guessing some other ones might work better with the 8400 card.

Can you explain in more detail how to do this. I am a novice at changing out inf. files.
