Hey guys,
It arrived on Monday this week but haven't had a chance to post on here about it. Been busy so only just getting time to use it properly last night.
I have cleaned it all up so now there is no junk and everything is running smoothly. When the laptop arrived everything was in great condition, no marks etc, nothing to complain about at all.
I tried 3D Mark 06 with the default Drivers and got a score of around 4300 or something (saved the exact score at home) and the GPU temp never went above 75 degrees celcius. Is this the usual temperature and score to expect from this kind of system?
Its other specs are T8100 cpu and 3GB RAM. I haven't tweaked it with different graphics card drivers yet I just ran 3D Mark free version with its default settings before cleaning it up etc.
Should I see a better score with different drivers from the laptop video driver site I see posted around here a lot?
Overall the quality of the laptop is great, and the angle that the 9-cell battery puts it on is really nice. Glad I went for it in the end over the 6-cell.
Build quality of this laptop is ace, no keyboard flex, no "bulge" in the keyboard that some people have mentioned. Also the infamous panel on the bottom was secured correctly![]()
Love the 1440 x 900 screen too, makes a big difference to my old laptops 1200 x 800. A lot more difference than I expected. Also loving Vista, running sweet as anything and very fast.
I decided to keep the Dell Dock. I looked at its properties and it says it is actually Stardock which I believe is one of the popular choices of dock software (For people who didn't get the Dell one?).
Edit: Oh and in terms of free stuff I got the carry case with it which I wasn't expecting. Also it did come with Bluetooth in the end which I didn't pay for and wasn't actually in the spec that I asked for either. I did want it but £30 was too much, since I got it for nothing technically then I am happy lol.

Congratulations. And nice to know everything is up and running well
Enjoy it and have fun. Cheers.
The temp is normal, the mark you could probably try out a few other official drivers. But I would stick with the default dell ones -
Congratulations, you have the sleekest notebook of them all!

so what'd you do after to boost the performance, cuz i got my xps less than a week ago and its still stock with all the programs, which do I uninstall and which startup items should I disable
-
Theres alot of Vista "Tweak" Guides on the forums
Maybe a lil too late as you've had it for a week (migh have alot of files on there) but I'd do a full reformat and reinstallation on Vista -
Well the first thing I did when I turned it on was that I uninstalled mcafee but that was about it, and I don't want to go as far as reinstalling vista. I just want to know what things i don't need during startup. ohh and can someone link me to the guides thx
