Ok this is my 1st post and I believe it applies to this thread. I have a 1.)Dell XPS 15 9550 w/1tb HDD, 32gb ssd, 16gb DDR4 RAM, UHD.
2.)Latitude e7470 128gb PCle SATA, 8gb DDR4 RAM, QHD.
-on this xps I've removed the HDD completely and turned into a external HD. I've also removed the 32gb ssd and replaced with 512gb 950 Pro SSD. Used the method similar to the one posted here.
- Originally had in RAID and used MS drivers. Just the other day I switched to AHCI and Samsung drivers and controllers. Strictly to see if the performance would be better with the Samsung magician recognizing it. Read/write speeds are slightly better but nothing that warranted the change.
- my 1st question is I've got some BSOD code: WATCHDOG VIOLATION & CRITICAL PROCESS DIED.
I looked around and have been told that I needed to switch to AHCI without my OS installed, but before doing a backup and recovery with clean install I could try a simple "workaround" which I did. I haven't had any more BSOD as of YET. Though I haven't been on the XPS much sense the "workaround" due to being busy. So does anyone agree that switch to AHCI with Windows 10 installed can cause those issues? Obviously anything else you can recommend to fix (if it's not by workaround) or suggestions on things that could be causing it, I'd surely appreciate it.
-My final question is if Latitude was shipped in Dec (not sure if that matters for what drivers or updates it may or may not have).I have the exact same ssd (512gb 950 Pro) that I want to install. I've spoken to Dell and they claim that the NVMe in the latitude will out perform ANY Sata, even though the PCIe is only wires to use x2 lanes instead of the x4.
Since I got the 2 ssd at the same time due to an excellent deal that's all I needed to hear to not return it for a cheaper but slightly slower sata.
My question is how would I install the ssd in the latitude? From what I read it seems that the process I followed on the xps wouldn't work since the e7470 only has 1 storage location and the guides on the xps are for systems with 2 storages and a HDD and sata/nvme.
I've searched everywhere and haven't found a solid answer, and if I did come across it, I'm to simple to recognize it lol. Anyway I've had this ssd for awhile and the e7470 for over a month. I've made a bootable USB from the Media Creation tool. But I wanted to know all the steps I may need to do in bios, or extra drivers, extra steps, or less steps. I've just now got into computers 5 or 6 months ago so still VERY MUCH a beginner.
Sorry for the long post but wanted to give the best description I could. I really appreciate sires like this with guys that help out others like myself. I 100% dedicate the little I know and what I've done to my computers, to sites and the others who put their knowledge out there. Many thanks!

It may be a tight fit but will work
The dampers are just plastic rails that fit on the side like bumpers.GoNz0 likes this.
