Lets rejoice, an answer to why my computer has been nothing but a doorstop for two months finally surfaces. Programs would randomly lock up, crash, bring down other things with them, cut into my audio, lock my audio up and have it repeat, and BSOD (once).
I finally got sick of not being able to figure it out with drivers and general techie no how and bit the bullet and fired up dell chat, he suggested it wasn't a hardware issue but I said lets take a look it feels like it's hardware, he says "ok" and I run the diagnostics. Error 2000-0142 comes up "HDD 0 self test failure" I relay it to Dell and they inform me that a replacement HDD is in the mail. Hopefully this solves my issues, it's just odd because I'm typing this post using the HDD right now and it's fine, but at any point in time Firefox could go down for just a couple of seconds or permanently.
This is the original Fujitsu 250 Gig HDD that came with my M1530 a couple of years ago that I just kept and used in this replacement SXPS16 it's not even 3 years old and already pulling this mess, granted this computer is on for about 8 or 9 hours a day and I work it pretty hard, hope the HDD they send me isn't a Fujitsu, I'm not incredibly impressed.
But for any of those thinking it's Windows 7 or your OS, I would suggest you run your inbuilt diagnostics and see what's up!
Thanks
HDD cause of constant lockups!
