I'm having trouble getting the sound out of my tv's speakers when its connected to my laptop via an HDMI cable. The sound just comes out of the tinny laptop speakers. I downloaded the ATI HDMI audio driver from the XPS1645 driver thread but it doesn't seem to work.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I got it working before. Go to the Sound control panel in Windows 7. The HDMI sound device is listed there. I believe you right click it and there should be an option to use it.

Check the HDMI port for any melted pins. It happened once to me and I replaced the mobo. Then it happened once again. Problem I never had with my HP and WD Media player. Always turn off the TV and the Dell Laptop before you connect them via the HDMI cable.

I've also found that sometimes the driver doesn't automatically switch to the HDMI sound output after plugging in the HDMI cable. In those cases unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in has always fixed it for me if you don't want to or don't have time to get into control panel.
