I am using it and it's working fine for me with windows xp. When I want to connect my xps 1530 to my tv using hdmi I just plug the cable in and system automatically change displaye to clone screen. Only issue I am having is with sound. My notebook and tv both plays the sound and there is no option in control panel under sound and audio devices to change sound playback to hdmi.

This worked for me to mute PC speakers in XP and direct audio to HDMI only:

    1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices.
    2. Go to the Audio tab and select your audio device from the Default device list.
    3. Click the Volume button.
    4. In the Volume Control dialog, click the Advanced button under the slider.
    5. In the Advanced Controls for Volume Control dialog, check the PC Spk Mute checkbox.
