just noticed the 2 of the HDMI pin was bent, not sure how it happens but been using it with the same cable for awhile and I'm always very gentle with it. Chat with dell support, the very next line after I mentioned "2 bent hdmi pins" is
"Agent (M_172069): "I am sorry Alex however you don't have a Complete Care warranty on the computer which would have entitled you to get a replacement for the part in case of unintentional or accidental damage. You have a part's replacement warranty that entitles you to rep"
lace the part's if they are not working fine ( In this case there is a damage cost) ."
well, guess i have to try to fix it myself.

isnt the hdmi port somewat soldered to the motherboard? im not very sure...
oh well... thats the thing with dvi then.... my dvi cable had a bent cable, but the dvi port was fine -
Is there a any way of carefully bending it back? I'd try that first. If it is beyond fixing (as in completely torn or ripped off then it may still be fixable by a skilled tech (like me)
alternatively you might be able to have dell ship you another motherboard for it. It depends how far you want to go to get it fixed.
sounds like the motherboard is locking up- RIGHT? random freezing- can't give them a diagnostic code because it locks up all the time- RIGHT? Seems to me like the MOTHERBOARD is faulty and needs to be replaced. This is a warranty issue and is fully covered under the parts replacement warranty. Whereas a damaged port is not if they think you did it.
Make sure that you understand this- ANY damage that tech support & ccare thinks might be due to user stupidity may not be a warranty issue. Be very careful how you word any statements about how the damage occoured. Dell's warranty service seems to be tightening their belts- ANY excuse to invalidate the warranty- and or a warranty transfer is being used to save money. None of my 10 or so service tag transfers of existing warranty have been accepted in the last 3 months- and when they do get around to telling me- there is no way to prove I bought it on e-bay as the listing is no longer there. I'd like to thank the crooks that screwed the rest of the techs out there- used to be easy to transfer a service tag online- now it is darned near impossible at all. -
yeah, the hdmi port is soldered into the MB, so to replace I'm afraid it'll need to change out the whole thing. And indeed the dvi port for sure is more durable than the hdmi.

luckily it hasnt cause any problems yet<knocks on wood>, it's the 2 top left corner pins thats bent like this, the first line is the pin, the "I" is the back wall, and the "\" is the bent part, and the "====" is the plastic piece where the pins normally lay flat on.
