the 14 is smaller and a bit more portable i guess. but the 15 comes with 3.0 USB, and whatever the 2.1 audio thing is (it sounds better than the 2.0 that comes with 14!)

2.1 audio means that it has two speakers, and one subwoofer. The subwoofer adds bass and makes sound seem "deeper" and have more oomph.

Question: why have you chosen 6GB on the 14 but only 4GB on the 15?

I actually want the 4GB on the 15 as well, but I couldn't get that option :(
price-wise, both configuration have similar $$ (like 50 difference).
    which one should i get??

    is the 15 too big??

In my opinion, 15 is the perfect size for a multimedia laptop. It's the right balance between performance, battery life and portability.

Right now the XPS 15 is a better overall package, especially with the Full HD display. However, if I were you I would wait a little longer. Dell will most likely get a 1600x900 display for the XPS 14 and when they do so the XPS 14 would be a better pick because of the smaller size. Any laptop over 14" is a desktop replacement in current times.
Once again I believe that Dell will get a 1600x900 display on the XPS 14 because they have an Inspirion 14 with the same resolution at the moment and the XPS is the their top of the range laptops, so eventually I guess they will get the higher res display for the XPS 14 too..

Also, I think there is somethin fishy with the supplies of 1600x900 displays at the moment..HP took down the 1600x900 Radiance display option on the Envy 14, Sony vaio EA has the 1600x900 option in the UK but not the Americas..

are you suggesting that the supply is not efficient? then that'll mean Dell wont put up the higher res for XPS 14 in the near future...

i am not entirely suggesting that the supplies are inefficient..but yes i think its most likely a shortage or may be higher prices (with the Chinese economy going up..countries like the US might have to may more than what they used to in the past)..so there might be a temporary flux in prices at the moment..
but then HP has also mentioned that it wont be getting the radiance displays in the future, which might hint at newer technologies for these displays..
whatever it is all these notebook makers (HP, Dell, Sony, etc) will get the 1600x900 resolution back on the configuration lists pretty soon, cause there is an every growing group of customers for these high resolution displays on a 14 inch form factor..the HP Envy 14 owes most if not all of its success to its brilliant 1600x900 display..
