i've just installed xp vortex vista edition. i've done the entire thing of correcting the dual boot issue with vista. then i went to install the chipset driver.

i left my mobile phone (motorola a1200) plugged in the usb port. the installer then deleted all files on my phone microsd card - plenty of pictures and audio, all memories - and replaced them with about a hundred files of meaningless names. i think the files are in arabic because the system was initially set to arabic. oh, and the installer was in arabic too, due to the same issue. why did all that happen?

is there any possible way to restore lost files? would system restore do? if anyone knows, please help!

    thanks in advance!

EDIT: i've tried to system restore. it said something about the drive being offline. i went to my computer-properties-system restore and it says that my drive is offline. i also went to drive properties in my computer and tried to use the backup function to restore the files. it said that there are no files to restore. I just wonder, doesn't windows store all the necessary backup files on the main drive?
