    Hi,

I had a few problems last night installing my new Belkin ExpressCard Docking Station on my XPS M1330 ... first it wouldn't show video, then it took away my laptop screen, and after I rebooted I had no USB ports working...

Finally I got it all back by uninstalling the thing, and I'll have another go at the weekend.

On the Belkin site it says we have to disable the webcam during installation and also the USB Controllers.

Can anyone tell me how to do that please?

BTW - Belking insist that their new Vista Driver is ok!

    Thanks

Sounds like poor driver support to me. Why you would have to disable devices is beyond me... LOL

I'm guessing its acceptable to enable these devices after install - at least I would hope so. If not, return the thing ;)

So how to disable, well - right click on your desktop 'Computer' icon. Select 'Manage'. On the left you should see 'Device Manager'. Click on it to open the Device Manager.

Under Imaging Devices you will find the Webcam. Right Click on it and select Disable.

Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers you will find your USB Hub and USB Root Hub.

Hopefully, that will get you where you need to be. If not, I suggest hitting up Belkin Tech Support directly.

Thanks - they do say that after the installation I can re-enable the webcam and USB controllers...

I'm considering purchasing the Belkin, already have the XPS. How did you make out in the end?

You can buy mine...does that tell you anything :)

Honestly, I am now in the position of deciding how long to wait before I wipe my hard drive and re-install everything...

Maybe it works fine with XP, but with Vista it's hell on earth...

I don't think Dell should recommend this product with their laptops...
