    My friend has a XPS1330.
He was using it like any other day, but today suddenly the computer didn't boot normally. The DELL screen didn't even show up, just some lines from top to bottom - different colors. and that's it. He tried to start the computer several times and suddenly it booted normally - Vista of course said that the computer didn't start properly etc.
But now it seems to work fine.
What could have been the problem - the first thought that I had was the faulty nVidia GPU's, because he has a 8400 GPU in there. Is there any way to check if the chip is faulty, or what could have caused such a problem?
Since it's working now and he needs it for his job, he hasn't taken it to warranty service yet. - Should he?

    Thanks for all the answers!

Colored lines on screen mean that your GPU is dying, your friend should call dell tech and have the motherboard replaced... another one down... this thing is like Cancer... slowly but it will eventually happen.

ok, thanks for the quick reply.
I had a feeling the 8400 may be the cause of this... oh well, too bad.
