Have the XPS M1330 always been glossy or did the earlier models have non glossy screen? I prefer the glossy, but when I hold up the screen with it off and compare with my home pc and my laptop PC, the screen is alot less glossy.

nope... it always has been glossy

the XPS is marketed as a consumer/high-end laptops, which are usually glossy (better color range and so vs. matte)... usually business-class models have matte options
