    Hello to All

Requesting a professional opinion here, I recently started getting progressive Ultra DMA CRC Errors with Segate 750GB HD on my new DELL XPS15z... now counting 41 and going up... I think this has started after applying the HD firmware upgrade DELL posted on their site... this also accompanied by "pending reallocation count" of value of 223608832.. but the actual reallocated count is 0

HD still passes tests, therefore Service Center is not willing to do anything.. though DELL Support Center software is reporting a problem here..

This is my second Segate HD and I can say SEAGATE SUCKS.... Are these two problems combined together signs of a failing HD?? or something else?...

Appreciate any help here... And by the way, XPS15Z is an overpriced piece of rubbish... Next time I'm going straight forward to MackBook Pro

Yeah, cause MacBook's aren't overpriced at all.

Run chkdsk. You might also try a third-party test such as HD Tune, but do the full chkdsk test.

Make sure you backup your data NOW, and then run tests and whatnot. If the drive is damaged the more you test the more you might damage it. Also check the hard drive connections on the motherboard. A loose connection can cause CRC errors. Seagate has been known to have buggy firmware in the past -- it is possible you are dealing with a few bugs. (Oh, and if it isn't broken do not fix it...that firmware upgrade was probably completely unnecessary.)

If you speak with Dell again about it tell them the drive is failing SMART tests and they'll replace it.
