    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here has successfully installed XP x64 on an M1530? I spent the past half hour or so reading through the guide on this page to install XP, but I'm not sure if the same instructions apply for x64.

Yeah, a friend with some technical know-how suggested that I go for XP 64.

I am on Vista Home Premium now and am having issues with the browser being rather slow, not to mention I don't like the new look and feel.

well, go with firefox 3 for ur browser and u will be fast . it is faster tha internt explorer. and it may not be ur laptop at all. maybe ur internet connection itself is slow perhaps? go with vista x64 and u can change the look and feel of vista if u want.

Why would you recommend vista x64 over XP x64?

Im going to check out firefox. My other computers with XP are running the internet fine.

XP64 has very poor driver support.

Performance improvements of 32 to 64bit isn't much. There are other reasons to why your browser is slow.

What advantages are you looking for? In the case of most laptops, you simply will see no difference whatsoever.

I installed XP64 on my m1330, much of it may be applicable to the m1530 too.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=282582

I dual-boot XP64 and Vista 64, and while Vista 64 is probably superior for the average person, there's no doubt to me that XP64 has given superior performance in every game I've tried (e.g. KOTOR), and runs a lot of games Vista doesn't really run very well at all (e.g. Metal Gear Solid 2).
