Just confirming that when you moved the modded .inf file into the folder that auto-extracts, there was nothing there to overwrite?
-
You should get a prompt to overwrite and existing file of the same name.
-
That is a bit odd, I've always had something to over-write...and there should be.

Cheers for getting back to me!
I don't suppose you could have a download of the above and let me know if I'm going mad?
Literally did these steps:
1) Download firmware
2) Download ini
3) Doubleclick on firmware, extract to same folder
4) Moved ini to that folder
no prompts to overwrite, no file in that folder with the same name.
I pressed on with the installation anyway and all *seems* ok. -
Urgh, link usually helpful:

So you should update the firmware of the 8600M GT AND get custom drivers for best performance?
-
Interesting….I extracted the file and moved the modded .inf file and did not get a prompt to overwrite existing file.
I would extract the file, open the folder you extracted it to and search for the file nv_disp and delete it then paste or drag the new modded .inf file in to the extracted file folder. -
I'm sure I didn't see any nv_disp pre-moving it across. Funny as you say.
No problems so far, if Mass Effect continues to work fine without the odd stutter that I was getting, then I will cease the worrying and commence the enjoyment!
Has anyone else installed this particular m1530 firmware for 8600?
