Hi,
I have a DELL XPS Studio 16 1647 laptop.
It is now time to restore it to factory settings as it's got too slow and annoying.
I thought I could just reboot, and hot F8 a few times once the DELL Logo appears and the Recovery options would be shown.
I have tried that severl times and the load happens so fast that Windows starts.
How can I start the Recovery option - is it the DELL key, or the F11?
thanks
Philip

Do you see a "D" partition on your drive ?
Some XPS systems did not have it so Repair is the only option from F8 or F11.
You may need to get a set of Dell Disks
or you can download the OS and use your key located on your computer -
yes there is a Recovery partition, and in Disk Manager it shows as Heathly, I guess in the morning I'll try hitting F8 as soon as I press the power button

Why not just reformat and do a fresh install?
