    Hi Everyone,

Just looking to see if anyone else that owns a Dell XPS 1645 has experienced the same issue and come up with a solution. It appears the screen is being scratched by the rectangular touchpad when the lid is closed as the scratches line up perfectly with the touchpad. I've attached a photo of the scratches to show what it looks like. Keep in mind that the scratches look like dirt/dust but no matter what I can't clean it off. I've read online that using an acrylic polishing agent such as Novus might work. Anyone used that or have other suggestions?

I haven't had any scratch like that before nor have I ever used any acrylic polishing agents/solutions. I'm sure some other NBR members will be able to advise you in that department. However, what I can advise you is to get a screen protector so that those kind of marks don't crop up again. They happen because when you close the screen, the plastic-like covering sags onto the keyboard and the keyboard can easily leave those kind of marks if over-compressed. I recommend this screen protector from Shaggymac.

You should customise the width and the depth of the screen protector (at the bottom of the page) to make sure it fits very well. This POST has the specifications for width and depth that I used and the screen protector fits quite well (the thread might also have info on the agent you need). The protector also doubles as a screen wipe cloth and it's the reason I've never had any "scratch" problems. I feel your pain though, as I'd be mighty pi$$ed if that happened to me . I'm sure some NBR members have used those agents before and can help. Good luck.
