the thing that really gave me the greenlight to make this purchase was that the 3 year warranty was included and LED screen. my new ETS date is 9/11/08. i dont mind the wait...just wondering what are all your thoughts? i read somewhere that xps line will be discontinued and replaced soon..

ill be using the laptop as a multimedia source. movies, music, games (wow, cod4, starcraft 2, etc etc)

    thanks in advance!

don't get caught in the cycle of newer technology......

the newer laptops when they come out (most likely around october/november) will only be marginally better in terms of performance.....will have only a few new/cool features and designs....but will be much more expensive.....with no coupons in sight for months............if you need a laptop now.......then stick with the xps......it will probably last you around 4 years and then you can buy a new one.....if you have to have the new technology....and can wait.....then wait.....but you won't have a laptop for a few more months

and remember....as I have said to so many people in the past....this whole technology think is a big fat cycle............there is always something "newer and better" coming out....rather than shopping for what you could get.....research well and shop for what you need/want.....and buy it....be satisfied.....and don't be affected by buyer's remorse

hope that puts things into perspective

Edit: Just looked over your system.....it is a great setup....it will last you quite a while and be able to deal with nearly anything (just no super high end gaming) you throw at it.....I say stick with it unless you have a good reason why you would need to wait

    Hey,
you have a nice config. there! ;) :)

Always remember that Dell tends to over-project those ESD... ;)

It's a cycle...technology...ever, changing...As with the Dell deals...so if you cancel now and reorder for something new...You many not get the deal you want! ;)

Plus, a newer order..would prolong your ESD even longer ;) :)

It sounds like you like what your getting! You can always return the 1530, if w/in 21 days of date of invoice ~ it isn't working for you!

And, then get something newer perhaps!

    Just a suggestion! ;) :)
And, I hope it helps you out...

    Cin ;) :)

lol yeah...it will be discontinued for uglier laptops. your not gonna find a laptop as good looking as the current XPS

You will have Studio XPS and Inspiron XPS laptops, both of which will probably look more like the current Studio and Inspiron laptops, respectively.

You'll probably lose the nice look the current XPS systems have, so you would probably want to keep your order.

I don't understand how you got an 8/27 ESD in the first place. I ordered on 8/6 like you did with the same midnight blue, LED screen and 6 cell battery pack which seem to be the main back ordered items and my ESD has always been 9/2. Maybe Dell just makes this stuff up as they go along.

His ship date's 9/11/08 now. And they change it a lot actually. My date changed 3 times before they finally settled on the final date. It'll probably come sooner than what it says now.

Anyway, when I first heard of the nVidia GPU, my XPS was shipped the next day and I wanted to return it. Sometimes I wonder what would have happen if I did, other times I love this thing. Although there are some awesome deals on other laptops right now, so it's all up to you.

Yeah I know but like I said I don't know how he got that early ESD in the first place when he ordered a system with all the same known delayed parts as my system on the same day as me and my ESD is 9/2. My ESD date has never changed all this time. It has always been 9/2. I have never gotten any delay emails or anything so far. I wonder if mine will eventually get delayed.
