I googled this issue for 3 days but still hasn't got it fixed, hopefully I can get some ideas here

I just bought a Samsung 850 Pro SSD and want to upgrade my Dell XPS 17
    My current BIOS is A19

What i've found so far is if I put the SSD into HDD2 slot, i can install Windows 8 without any problems
But, I the SSD was in HDD1, when the WIndows installation process completed and reboot, i got a flashing cursor on my screen for ever
Not only that, if I had SSD in HDD2, another disk in HDD1, same flashing cursor.
So what i've found so far is if I want to clean install Windows 8 successfully, i have to only left one drive in HDD2 slot

This is so weird, I tried to reload the BIOS factory default settings, still the same

I guess this is something wrong with the BIOS, anyone has any idea?

    much appreciated

    Hi, rickygao.
Have you tried to install Windows 7 on this SSD?
Currently I have an SSD installed in HDD1 slot and HDD in HDD2 in my L702x. Though my SSD is Silicon-Power, everything works flawlessly.
Check your BIOS settings, whether the first boot device is set for HDD1?

P.S. I want to replace my SSD with Samsung 850Pro, so I'm interested in the solution of your problem!

I have the same XPS L702X and I am interested in this same HD. Can you please confirm if you finally solved that issue?

    Thank you in advance.

You can not boot from this port direclty. Use a bootloader on the first HDD to boot from second HDD.
