Hi , this is my first post on hereI am thinking about buying the xps m1530.
I was wondering if i should have the Blu Ray drive. Because i don't know if it is really worth the money or will it be need in the future for games and things. Also would this make a good desktop replacement ? I would be using it for general stuff like web, MSN , bit of photoshoping . I would also use it for a bit of gaming. My current PC isn't very good. I carnt even handle command and conquer generals at top graphicsI was thinking about getting Lord of the Rings Online but how do you think i would run on this setup, o any other game in fact ?
Components
Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache)
15.4" Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT Display with TrueLife
2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
NVIDIA® GeForce Go 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated graphic memory
Primary 9-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (85 WHr)
Also one other thing lol. If you get a 9-cell battery do you get the 6-cell battery with it extra.
Sorry if my questions sound stupid but I am not to good with notebooks and i don't want to spend a lot of money on something and not be 100%![]()
Thanks for any help

I use the 1530 as a desktop replacment and so far it has works out, as far as the blu ray drive I don't have one but mainly because I have a hddvd drive for the 360 which I use to watch movies on.

thanks for the help with that
, any one know the answer for the battery question ?

It only reads Blu ray discs and not them burn them I've been told. If you have/get a PS3 it just doesn't seem worth it.
At about £230 or $460 its simply not cost worthy YET. Give it some time and the technology will fall in price drastically just like DVD Rewriters and plus you will get more films which too will drop in price. -
For the batterys i would get both of them becasue it is a better deal to get them together then later

thanks, MaStaMinD in the UK u have 6 standard or upgrade to 9.
Is that laptop good at games ? Because the Spec look good but how does it perform ? -

well on the US site it says read/write for blu-ray and im pretty sure that you would see tons of complaints on that issue if they didn't offer write functionality.
im not sure whether developers are going to use it for games in the future cause unless things change i doubt you'll ever see a microsoft game like halo on blu-ray. if you can see yourself using it for things like backing up, watching movies etc i would go for it. out of all the upgrades they offer in my opinion its one of the best but if you dont picture yourself doing those things you could live without it. -
yep exactly , and if i did ever did want to use it then i could just go out and get one for my main TV.

On the computer side Blue ray will not be a requirement for quite some time. Companies just started to use DVD's after them being out for several years.
Help Please :D M1530
