Guys I need help with something.
I just got my XPS M1730 today and it told me when I tried to directly hardwire my noteboo to the computer
    'Connected to Unidentified network'
I called the tech support guy. The guy didnt seem to know exactly what he was doing but he told me to do the following:
    1) Reinstall network driver - FAIL.
    2) Flash teh bios with the bios update on the website - FAIL.
    3) Goto Safemode and disable all the software including McAfee - FAIL.
Then he said he was going to send a technician to fix the problem. Any other recommendations if people can find an option?

You ran an ethernet cable straight from your laptop to another computer? And it didn't work? You have to go through a router.....or am I misunderstanding your problem? :p

If you are connecting computer to computer then you need to use a cross over cable, not a regular cable. You also need to set a fixed IP address on each computer.
