    Hi

I recently installed a new hard drive on my Dell XPS M1710. As a precaution without properly researching I created a 50MB partition so that I could put Media Direct on it if need be.

Does anyone know if I can actually install Media Direct still? Also Can I install newer versions? And if so do I need a larger partition?

Most importantly... WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE media direct CD from? I didn't get one with my computer.... And I believe I need that right?

    Thanks!

In order to install the MediaDirect version for the M1710, you'll need to (prior to installing Windows) insert the MD Disc and boot from it. Follow the instructions and then @ the prompt, eject it and insert your OS install media and boot up. Once the OS is installed and you are @ the desktop, you'll need to re-insert the MD Disc and complete the install of media direct.

In order to obtain the MD disc, try this form:

    https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form

    EDIT:
If you can't locate that page on the Dell CA site, give support a call and let them know you need the backup disc. They should send one out @ no charge.
