My XPS 1340 from '09 is running on a failing HDD (the WD 500 GB) so I need a new one. I figure I might as well upgrade to an SSD while I'm at it.

Problem is I don't know much about laptop hardware, so I'm not sure which fits and which are quality etc.

I need something in the 128-256GB range.

If anybody can assist me, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

I bought a Liteon 256gb for $150AU for my M1730. Liteon are made by Phillips and are relatively new to the ssd market. They use a Marvel controller and Toshiba memory chips. They certainally boot up much faster than a conventional hard drive. As a second drive I installed a Seagate 750gb hybrid drive.

    Thanks Commander Wolf and desone.

I was thinking more in terms of which actually physically fit? I take it there's a difference between desktop and laptop SSD's?

I'm in Denmark, so my options apparently are limited as to the range of products I can order. I've settled on a Corsair Force GS, so here's to hoping that'll work out.
