Hi need some help so i can start using my laptop =/ Dell technical support is driving me insane atm
I did a manual install and i am about to reinstall all the drivers. The guy at Dell technical support sayd he will do it for me and he connected on my computers to install the drivers.
But at one point i saw him go into dvice manager under my graphic adapter and he tryed to install my 8800gtx drivers by searching online for them lol , at this point i unplugged my connection and cut him off.
I am having trouble install the "intel matrix storage manager driver". All other drivers once i extract them they self install with this ones it opens up a folder with a all bunch of files and not sure how to do it , this is what it`s in there:
iaahci
iastor
iastor.sys
etc..
how do i install this drivers ?
The tech guy told me that my network drivers are the same for the wireless card has well? if not wich ones are the correct wireless drivers for the m1730? There are so many of them some say " wireless 5520 sprint--wireless 5520 vodafone--wireless 5520---wireless 5505 telus" this is confusing . I almost wish i did not do a manual install=/
Tech guy told me i need the number 4965 for the wireless drivers but they are not ont he cd or at least not that i can see.
At this point i honestly don`t know what wireless card i have , not sure if it is the dell or intel one.
When i placed the order i did not change the setting for the wireless card so it should be the "Dell Wireless 1505 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps) " but on my order papers it says it`s the "intel 4965 WLAN" but since the messed up the order for the colour on the laptop at this point i don`t know what to think , can it be that this laptop is refurbished and they just sent me someone elses order?
Because the wireless drivers 4965 are not showing on the driver cd , what gives?

The laptop it self is nice but the people at dell technical support need to be shoot=/
I try to let them connect to my PC and see what they do and i was horrified.
She started downloading all the drivers at the same time and installing 2 to 3 of them at same time , wile doing windows update. I wanted to say FFFFFFFFFF are you doing.
You just never try and install multiple drivers at the same time especially not the graphic card drivers , that how you create systme conflicts and problems.
I have been building PC`s for 10 years now and never had so much trouble doign a system install lol.
I pretty much have to guess work what drivers i need because it is completly confusing from dell website, the drivers CD that comes with the laptop it`s a mess at best.
I just going to reinstall factory default and keep the machine like that , cause i honestly can`t loose my mind over this. -
Whcih OS are you running?
If it's Vista you only need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager and not the separate drivers, those will be installed automatically with the app. In XP you need to manually install them through device manager.
I don't know which Wireless card you have but then ones you name with provider names after them seem to be WWAN card, not WLAN.
If you want to reinstall everything, check out this page http://support.dell.com/support/top...&component=-1&lang=-1&doclang=en&toggle=false and just follow that order -
Ok thx that why when i clicked on it would just open the folder, they are alrdy installed.
This goes to show how silly dell tech support is, they kept trying to install them over and over.
K im gona try this again following the guide onthat link.
i have one more question to make sure when i do a final installation i get everything right i am playing around wiht it now.
ATM in device manager i have a yello {!} and it says Other devices-PCI device , i can not figure out what driver i am missing.
Should i install "Desktop System Software" and "dell OS tools"?
I also can not find "PCMCIA/Smartcard controller " on dell website or on the cd=/
What about the ricoh driver doesn need to be installed? -
Yes!!
Notebook system software is the first thing you have to install...right after the OS
You're other 2 question kind of cancel eachother
The Ricoh driver IS the PCMCIA driver...amongst others. The Ricoh chipset provides firewire, pcmcia, PCI express card.
Try to download all the drivers you need and number them in the order in which they need to be installed. This makes it very easy to just run them one by one. Be sure to reboot everytime the system tells you it needs to....don't try to rush it
