Okay, so I reinstalled windows on my laptop, and I go to re enroll my fingerprint with the fingerprint reader. The Fingerprint reader suite says I have no fingers enrolled, but when I go to enroll my finger again, it says the fingerprint is already enrolled. But I can't find it anywhere. I'm assuming the saved fingerprints are saved to the device itself, but I can't seem to import the saved prints.
    Any help here?

Uninstall the Upek software, re-boot, then re-install. You may have to google it to find it available for download.

I'll give that a shot, although it is still reading my old fingerprints from before I formatted the drive. The old prints are stored to the reader, not the hard drive, so I'm not sure reinstalling the software is going to help. But it's worth a shot.

if You goto DELL'S DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS PAGE. you will find an updated Upek software and driver package. Give that one a shot...

I have the same issue. I did a clean install (completely deleting previous drives) and it still says that my previous fingers are enrolled even though it doesn't show on control panel. I had to enroll a different finger.

It's because they are stored in the reader itself, I just can't get the software to read stored prints in the reader.

I had this problem too after I did a clean-install of vista.
I found out that there's actually an option to delete the stored fingerprints.
Well at least there should be, I downloaded the ver from the actual software
    site rather than dell's driver.
If you access the program from the start menu, you should be able to
access the software's main menu and then there should be an option under
settings I believe to delete the stored fingerprints. I had to have at least
one enrolled though before I could delete the old ones, as in you can't delete
all the enrolled fingerprints without having at least one enrolled.
Anyway this should work, and if not you might have to download the actual
update program from the software maker's site rather than dell's utilities.

I had this problem and solved with a little bit of hunting about.

    To clarify what htn2 said:

Right click on the icon in your system tray
    Select "Start Control Center"
Then, under "Settings", select "Fingerprint Storage Inspector"
There, you'll see your stored prints, which you can select and click "Remove" to delete.

    Voila
