I'm looking to buy a M1730 but had a few questions about the sound options.

There are two practical options: the High Definition Audio 2.0 and the Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition.

From what I've read the Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition is just a software package and isn't a different sound card.

So I want to know if I just get the High Definition Audio 2.0 option, can I hook it up to a 7.1 speaker system? The "Help Me Choose" sectioned mentioned something like this but with a footnote of "Requires purchase of Surround Sound Upgrade Kit available separately." What does that mean?
