Derp. Don't make changes when tired.

I meant to uninstall the drivers for my GT540M. I accidentally uninstalled the display adapter entry for the GT540M itself.

Now Windows isn't autodetecting the GT540M card (whenever I go into the display adapter section, it only sees the Intel adapter).

Any idea what I need to do to get it to detect again? I've tried cleaning & reinstalling the video drivers, but because windows isn't detecting the hardware it keeps telling me that there's no compatible hardware installed.

I've rebooted a few times. I've also gone into the BIOS by hitting F2 during boot to check if it's set wrong there, but don't see video card indicated on any of the screens.

Go to device manager and choose scan for new hardware.

Found it. I kept checking under "DIsplay adapters" tab expecting it to be there. It was actually under "Other Devices" as "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" with a "?" icon by it.

I asked windows to seach for a driver and it's reinstalled it.

You did uninstall the driver...when you uninstall the driver and Windows doesn't have the hardware profile built0in (which it wouldn't on new hardware like the GPU and USB 3, etc), it puts it under "other devices" with the yellow "?" mark. Reinstalling the driver should have done the trick though.

    Glad you found it.
