heya guys!! i just bought the all new dell xps 15 with the 2nd generation intel processor for my nephew and there are some question that i would like to be answered...
Its mainly about the graphic card of the laptop which is the GT540M 2GB GDDR3:
Basically im kinda confuse as to how to identify whether or not the graphic card nvidia is being use or the intel HD when gaming?? or is the Intel HD Graphics are the same thing as the Nvidia Graphic card??
because when my nephew was playing Dragon Age 2, and as he was about to configure the settings on the Configuration Utility... at the DISPLAY system, it was shown that Generic PnP monitor on Intel(R) HD Graphics Family and it can't be change to Nvidia. However when he set the graphic setting within the game options he was able to choose the direct 11x and High Graphic Setting.
Is it suppose to be like that?? or is the Dell XPS 15 have like a switchable Graphic Card system which switch your graphic from Intel graphic to Nvidia like in those Asus Notebook???
sorry for being noob with this question but when i ask the dell store staff to show me regarding the graphic card, they are unable to do so because all of their technician are apparently on holiday lolz...

Dell XPS L502 has an optimus technology, thus helps you to save battery life switching between build-in and discrete GPU's automaticly! While you don't game it stays with Intel HD Graphics and if you do some resourceful tasks it switches to 540m! You can left click mouse button on a desktop => go to Nvidia control panel => Global 3d settings and choose either laptop will use Internal/Discrete GPU or Automatic option!

Not a biggy) Also you might wanna try switching the power options from high performance to balanced/power saver to get the most of your laptop endurance! Sometimes i forget to change those settings and leave the high performance profile when watching 1080p movies on external tv and have my laptop unpluged - i get 2hrs of playback and if i switch to balanced/power saver - 4hrs!
