I put in my Crysis DVD, and it just kept spinning and spinning and still not get recognised... Over time my DVD drive has been getting worse and worse, not recognising DVDs.

So what did I just do? I uninstalled the driver, thinking I could just download it again. Well, I couldn't find the driver on this forum and I downloaded some "firmware" thingy from the Dell website, but it says it cannot find/ recognise the device (or something along the lines).

Now I have no means of access optical storage, which is a real shame. Can someone guide me on how to resolve this problem?

Note: system restore is off... Yeah, I'm an idiot. I'm going to turn it on now.

    Thanks!

Edit: laptop is an M1530, with Windows 7 installed on it.

Still under warranty? It didn't recognize even after rebooting? Your DVD drive is toast.

Try using a bootable cd/DVD to verify drive is bad. if so its not normally too hard to put in a replacement drive in a laptop.

Okay, the laptop recognises it now after a restart, sorry.

However, why isn't it reading DVDs? :\ It started off with CD-Rs and now game discs cannot be read. I think CDs can be read though.
