Hi, i have a Dell Xps 17 and every time when I try to hibernate the windows it does not work correctly. or whether it hibernates the computer but not turn off the computer, it restart it again. but if I hibernate and then close the lid/cover (lcd!!!) of the laptop the hibernate works flawlessly.
Can you tell me what is the problem?

is really strange because I have another laptop of another brand and I hibernate without closing it. and it works...

    Sorry my english.

It means wiping out the current OS and reinstalling it to maybe see if it is an OS issue. It will wipe out all your data, so make sure you back it up first. Access Dell's recovery by spamming F8 once you power the machine, repair my computer, and select Dell DataSafe and Emergency Backup option and restoring the factory image.

I dont like the idea of need to reinstall windows again and install all of my software. I have posted a message in Dell's Facebook and i will wainting for the reply. They asked me my Service Tag, so i will wait and see if they have a solution.

Honestly nothing to be wary of... I do it frequently for many customers and it's quick and simple, even quicker if you use Dell's recovery partition.

Either way, upgrading your bios will not void your warranty (last I checked) so if you messed it up, call'em and they'll coem and replace your MB.

Yes.... it is, when the laptop first turns on, hit "f2" on the keyboard and you'll go into the Bios's settings, in there there's information about the laptop including service tag production date and etc. Just simply look for the Bios Version

If you have a keen eye, the bios version is literally right there when the "dell" screen pops up right during bootup

and if you're not comfortable with doing either..... download hte bios update program and open it up, it will tell you what bios version you have, and if you want to upgrade/downgrade to this bios version
