    Hi guys,

I have my m1530 for almost two years, and in last 2 months (after I've installed windows 7) i'm having troubles with my graphic card (nvidia g8600m gt). The problem is that in every game after few minutes there is a sudden drop of FPS. For example if i have a FPS of 50 after 2-5 minutes it goes down to 20. I checked my CPU and Memory load but there is nothing strange.

I have latest Nvidia drivers: 197.16

I also included as attachment a log file of GPU load and temp after playing 10 minutes of CoD 5.

That's not good. Do you any warranty left on your 1530?
Can you try and clean out your fans? I used Compressed Air, helped it a little during the interim.

If you don't have any warranty left on your 1530...there is the extended warranty on the GPU.

    Hi Cin,

My warranty expired after a year. I'm still trying to figure out if the problem is on hardware or software side. I ran through dell's system check and no error were reported.

Your GPU is definitely overheating. This is only since you installed windows 7? Your current driver might be what's causing the issue. Try installing an older version or a newer version and see if it makes a difference. Once you rule out the driver, it could be heating due to dust build up, thermal paste issues, or something in windows 7. Also your gpu might be heading towards failure, but I doubt that.

Problems begun after i've installed windows 7. I downloaded older drivers, 186.82, but the problem with overheating is still there. I'll try with compressed air to clean out the fans. What is normal GPU temp on heavy load?

I'm beginning to suspect that maybe the fans are causing the problem with overheating, because they are not starting with full power when playing games. But that could be a software issue?
