A while ago I was playing a 1080p movie in VLC on my XPS 17 l701x, and i noticed that I had high temps CPU and GPU..

    CPU: 66C
    GPU:60C

I looked in the tasks incase there was something else using the CPU but nothing VLC player was the only application which was using excessive CPU and Ram.

I turned the Movie off and the temps went to 50C on both CPU and GPU.

Is this common or expected from this system ? has anyone else noticed this ?

    Cheers
