Hey all,
I can' tbelieve I just pulled the trigger.
Well, I've been refreshing every 15 minutes for about 12 hours a day for the last 4 days. Big thanks to mhatrey for providing me with a 15% off coupon.
I finally found the right combo today:
XPS 16, 1366 Screen
4670 GPU
4gb ram
250 gb HDD 7200 RPM
5100 wireless
P8600 processor
Vista Premium
1 year warranty
$764
+ Extra 9-cell battery for $85
Total = $844
Free next day shipping
+ tax of $50.63
= $894
I just can't believe I got one with a 4670 GPU and the minimum processor I wanted for that price.
I sacrificed on three things: I would've loved the P8700 processor, but no big deal. I wanted the 5300 wireless card, because I live in a townhome and I wanted to make sure my transfer speeds were good. I also have considered online gaming, so I thought the 5300 might benefit for stable wireless gaming. Oh well.
Lastly, I wanted the minimum 320gb 7200 rpm drive. But out of them all, that'll be the easiest upgrade in 18-24 months to, probably, an SSD.
Very excited to get my product early next week! Thanks so much to this forum and I will try to contribute via product review and any questions that I can help people with!

you got a great deal

Oh, I forgot to mention, it was "previously ordered new"....so I'm guessing it's never been touched.

OY.....I'd say Yeah Baby..
You most certainly did!
Nice! Grat's on your system! And, impending arrival!~
*get's sudden *overwhelming itch to order again*.......

Congrats ! Are you going to get a cooler to keep it cool ?
-
Sexy deal, lucky you.

That is a godlike deal. Congratulations!
Also, you can always order an Intel 5300 WiFi card from eBay for like $20 and install it yourself. That's exactly what I did.

Thanks all!
Already shipped, per Dell. So monday or tuesday afternoon I should get it. Woo!
If I wind up selling one battery to a NBR member (for an excellent price for them!) I imagine I'll be around $810-820 all inclusive for this thing. I remember when it came out in January/February and I thought the base spec for $1200 was a great deal.
Big thanks to this forum for helping guide me to the best computer at the lowest price. FYI, 2 weeks ago I was a hair-trigger away from buying a moderately loaded studio 15 for about $100 MORE on a great deal.
Mastershroom - I thought the XPS 16 didn't have the setup for the antennaes when ordered with a 5100....maybe it's just a plug-and-play deal with the 5300? That'd be awesome.
HCW - I'm going to see how it runs in normal use and with the 9-cell lifting the rear. If it runs hot, we'll probably pick up a basic cooler.
Thanks again all! (and, again, thanks to mhatrey for allowing me to use his 15% off coupon)

Deal is pretty decent though I'd still have gone with an outlet system that had the 1080p screen instead. Would've cost maybe $100-$200 more but been totally worth it. Feel free to join us anytime in the 4670 thread.

If the laptop is offered with the 5300, it should have all three antennae, even if it comes with a lesser wireless card. At least, that's been the case with my Studio 1535 (with Dell 1397 b/g card) and 1555 (with Intel 5100). The third (grey) antenna is there, just not plugged into anything. Also, the 5300 works perfectly fine with just the two antennae plugged in, although without the performance of a third antenna.

I understand why you are saying that, but I deliberately didn't want the 1920 resolution. And oh yes, I will be joining you soon
Holy crap - Just ordered my XPS 16 w/ 4670 from the outlet - Smoking deal
