Hi,
I just recently got my XPS M1530, been loving it a lot, but I was just wondering, is the bottom part of the laptop which houses the wireless card supposed to get hot? I have the Dell 1505 Wireless N card (didn't have a choice, Dell outlet). I think by feel, it approaches temperatures of my GPU... Thanks!

Would the Intel cards run cooler, or is it just bad thermal design on Dell's part?

wireless cards emit hit....

Yes, they emit lots of "hit" XD
Sorry, heat. It just sounded funny.
It does get warm, its perfectly normal. Your wireless card is not going to melt. -
yeah, these wireless cards do get warm / hot
use it only when you need it

the area right above the touchpad gets pretty hot after long use. right after a long use (6-8 hours). i actually took the cover off from the wireless card housing and touched the adapter itself. it was completely cool, so now i'm wonderin if its from somethin else.

The south bridge is centered between the touchpad and keyboard. It uses the palmrest as a heatsink, which is why the touchpad area gets so warm, but if you're wireless card is cool, then idk what's creating the heat.
My wireless card (Intel 4965) is usually too hot to touch so I know that's what's causing the heat for me. -
Same for me as OP's...get's warm for me...but not *hot*...so I don't really worry about it!
As long as my lappy performs & runs good, I'm happy
