This is a sort of question, I know most of the XPS's with 8800M GTX SLI run at max 80C with Crysis and all, and I`m performing a sort of survey to see how fast and reliable these GTXs really are...

I have noticed on my M1730 that whenever I OC to 3.2/3.4GHz, the fans for the CPU and GPUs blow like tornado (BIOS A09). So even GPU OC to 600/900/1500 (core/memory/shader) with 8800M SLI enabled maxed at 73C. But I have a cooler too

My fans come on every time the graphics card temps reach 75 degrees. The temps are then lowered a few degrees before the fans turn off and the cycle continues again.
I think this was made to do this fan temp cycle due to the updated A09 bios settings. I also find that if the CPU is under heavy load then the graphics temps also reach much lower temps. -
Weird.
I suppose I`ll have to upgrade to the A09 Bios too... -
I have just Overclocked my GPUs to 600/980/1600. settings (STOCK settings were 500/799/1250.... and still the max temperature they reach are 80c. I have seen drastic improvements in most games with them now being extremely smooth. I tried doing a bios flash update for the graphics card the other day buy i couldn't get nvflash to run on my vista ultimate 64bit. So i decided to try and use nvidias new 6.02 ntune tool. So far works great.
I've had my XPS for almost 6 months now, hopefully it will still be working fine for years to come.
Has anyone else Overclocked their GPUs and what settings do you people use?
How are your temperatures and fan noise? -
You might want to change the poll options slightly, as it jumps from 6months to 1 year, with no choice in between
I've had mine nearly 6 months with the 8800's, but I've had a 1730 since Nov '07. I'm one of the lucky ones, who returned my system for a replacement with the 8800's in, even though I had the system nearly 3 months
How Old is your XPS 1730 WITH 8800M GTX SLI ?
