    Hi guys,

I have an XPS M1530 and I just got my motherboard replaced by a Dell technician earlier today, after it died...forgot to ask him whether the motherboard can support DDR2-800, since the newer M1530s support them.

Any way I can check myself?

    Thanks

None of the M1530 motherboards will support 800MHz DDR2 as they are all based on a 965 chipset which does not support 800MHz DDR2. Period. You can, of course, use 800MHz DDR2, but it will only run at 667MHz. Not that it really matters because you won't be able to tell the difference anyways...

in theory (extremely simplified) there's a 0.25ns difference of fetch time between them

    Awkward :D

But yeah i don't see why dell would throw in 800mhz RAM when they could be saving a buck selling the ones actually supported by the chipset.
