I want to install the latest WHQL drivers from Nvidia for the 420M in my XPS 15. When I run the installer it says it can't find my hardware. The Nvidia website has an activex control that automatically detects my hardware and directs me to the appropriate download, so I should have the right driver for my hardware.
If I download the driver from Dell it works, but it's old. How can I get the latest Nvidia drivers to install? Do I really need to wait for Dell to ship an update?
Thanks!

dont trust nvidia to find the right drivers for you.
try this download (assuming you're in the US and using windows 7 64bit):
NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.61 WHQL
or you can try going Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and selecting the options for yourself. it should work as I've never had trouble using their drivers with my 420m -

This inf still functions perfectly with recent versions.
Look on the Nvidia website for the latest mobile drivers, currently 270.61, download and replace the file as described in the link following the instructions. -
He's not having problems with the installer, just nvidia's website. The latest drivers should install just fine. If nvidia had broken it, there would be a lot more noise on here.

When I downloaded mine from nvidia it turned out to be the desktop version of the driver and would not install. Make sure the driver says laptop somewhere in the name of the downloaded driver.
How can I install latest Nvidia drivers on XPS15 L501X?
