    Hello,

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't get the volume very high on my 1530. I have it set on max on both the computer and the windows media playerl. I still can't hardly hear movies in a moving car. It's very low. Music is also pretty quiet when set at the max.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Is the volume in Windows Media Player (or whatever you use to watch movies with) maxed out as well as the system volume?

The included Creative EP-630s get quite loud and block out some outside noise as well.

If your car's headunit (some newer cars have it from the factory) has an auxiliary jack you could hook your laptop up to the car's speaker system using a 3.5mm cable (same cable you would use to hook up an MP3 player to your car's Aux jack).

Look this is what you do..

Go to your nearest Best Buy and purchase a cassette tape with a 3.5mm jack.

You plug in the 3.5mm jack into your headphone jack on the laptop, put the cassette end into your cassette player and now you have surround sound.

It's an odd problem b/c the system can get quite loud. Actually if I use the dell media direct it's much louder (but im not sure if this works with downloaded movies/music). I'm thinking it maybe some sort of software problem. It's not just a bit quiet- it's very quiet. I'm confident there's some sort of problem. It's pretty quiet even with the car off.

I thought someone else might have had this problem. I may buy the tape player for the car but I was hoping to fix this problem. I would also like it to be louder for music.

DFI fan, I did use the headphones and it's very loud with them on, although the quality of sound is terrible for some reason (even on the headphones.) I'm hoping I have some settings off.

Thanks for the suggestions. I definitely have it on full blast though.

I found something over on the dell community forums on the issues people were having with regular sound on the stock audio card/driver combo for vista. If you are having problems with low volume sound in vista, try this fix.

I recently bought a 1525 and had the same problem.

Managed to get more volume by doing this:

Start -> Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers / Headphones -> Enhancements Tab

Then, Tick the "Loudness Equalization" -> Apply / OK

I have also ticked the "Bass Boost and Low Frequency Protection" plus the "Virtual Sound".

The volume is still not great, but definitely better than it was.
Link on dell forums is here: http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...0197#U18990197

This definitely fixed my issues with low almost inaudible sound on Vista. Sound is usable and I can actually hear it now. Bass still isn't great, but on these speakers that isn't unexpected.

Jlovell, thanks for the tip. It's definitely a lot louder. As you say, still not great quality sound but I can certainly hear now. Much appreciated.

You probably already did this, but when you're in the system sound settings, make sure the "Wave" bar is turned up to the max in addition to the "Speaker" bar.
