Do I need to download a program, or can I find it somewhere?

    TIA

    Thanks Z-man.

My GPU core temperature is at about 80 degrees C. All i'm doing is surfing the web. I haven't played any games or opened any videos for that matter. Is that temp too high? Should I call Dell?

That's way too high for idle temperatures. Which GPU do you have?

The 8400  . I just called Dell and made them send someone out in the next 2 business days. It hasn't been 21 days since I received it, so i'm going to make sure everything is aces or i'm returning it. Also I received with the BIOS 12 revision...

For those with this POS card what temp do you think is an acceptable idle temp?

I downloaded the cpuid. I was on the internet for about an hour and half. All my temps were over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. My nVidia graphics card was the highest at 141.

It's cooled a bit now to the 68-70 range, but i'm still angry. I looked up the thread with the polling data, and want my GPU in the 50-60 range, not the upper 60s/lower 70s range. It'll be interesting to see what the dell tech guy says when he gets here.

nope.... for the m1330, it idles 60-72...

when i got it, it was idling around 72.. now its like 62..... maybe a little curing for the thermal paste?....

one more thing... use stock Dell drivers to check temperature.... some drivers report 10deg less... some drivers underclock the GPU more.... i guess.... :|

Yeah, mine idles around 60 with a cooling pad. But this was after the technician replaced the mobo, and reapplied thermal pads and thermal grease. So I would advise you to still have the mobo replaced.

    M1330 with 8400M.
My GPU idles at about 72 C, and peaks at 82C playing online games (Bloons Tower Defense 2...which lags quite a bit with lots of objects).

Within limits? I've already sent this in to fix the GPU (vertical lines problem) before.

82C peak is incredible if you're using official drivers and no hardware mods!

Yeah, its about 25. Could be less since I got those readings at night.

BTW, I'm running it without the battery, but I don't see how that has anything to do with it.
If I send it in, what will they do? Update the BIOS (which just keeps the fan on longer?)?

/Managed to hit 85 with the GPU (Again, playing flash games, Bloons specifically....)
