    Hello, I recently got my WLED replaced by an RGBLED and I remember seeing a post where a user posted the name of a program that lets you see what year the screen was manufactured. I can't seem to remember the name and I can't find the post. Does anyone know the name of that program??

    You can use everest or hwinfo32, but it's not really important. The RGB stopped manufacturing in early 2009. They are all made from an old stock.

    i had 2 dell studio 17s with rgb creens both were made by LG;
    and 3 studio 16s all of them were made by samsung.
    those on precision m6400 are likely LG products.

    I think you're mistaken as there's no rgb for studio 17. The b+rg screen is NOT rgb.

    Actually all RGB screens are exclusive to SAMSUNG. The m17x and xps 16 both use samsung displays

    What exactly is the b+rg though? A Blue and Yellow (red + green) backlight?? I guess that would be better than WLED, and our eyes are most sensitive to blue, but is it really any better?

    Nope. It's WLED /w 90% CG. I'd say it is very similar to RGB. Some people prefer it over RGB.

    I'm one of those. It's excellent.

    The RGB on the M17x and 6500 is just... something else, though. A great deal better than the sxps16 one...

    Yes, those are true 8-bit panels, pretty rare on a laptop display. Still TN though... Better than most anything else out there, even the much loved XPS16 RGB display is only a 6-bit dithering TN panel.

    dude, those dell studio 17 were purchased in 2008 exactly the same time dell m6400 launched. rgb led was out in latter half of y 2008.

    dell studio 16 with rgb led came 3 months later than studio17 and precision 17 and with a less quality samsung screens.
    studio17 had a much better rgb screen which was produced by LG.

    I didn't think you were talking about pre 1745 models. I've had a 1737 with rgb and it was inferior to current b+rg(wled) when compared side by side. It looked much darker and dull, almost like comparing led to ccfl. LG doesn't mean anything when it comes to TN. Just so you know.
