Okay so I have been doing heavy research on the Dell 1530. I have updated the video card and have more ram... you know all the thing I need to get what I need done.

I ran across four or five threads in two different forums talking about the Screen problems. And yes, I have even seen the pictures and heard all the stories... and watch the youtube videos. God it has almost made me not want to get a Dell. But, I am sticking with it and if it comes down to it I will follow all the directions I have seen here to get the LGXK309 from Dell.

What I havent seen or may have passed up was a way to make sure I get it the first time. I am ordering on line so I can get a 7% discount. I dont want to send the whole thing back three times. If I have to I am going with the http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=218988 and if that dont work I am going with the http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=214100

Just thinking ahead - but has anyone found a way to get it right the first time? And, if you have or know of a good discount code that would be great too!

    Thanks

Why don't you go for the dell studio xps 16 instead? It's newer and the gou is not flawed. Just google for "8600m gt defect". You can order the LED screen so as not to get the screen problem.

I agree with Luke, the Studio XPS16 has a better reliability and better screen compare to XPS1530, not to mention the fact that it is a neweger generation with Montelavia Platform (doesnt help much in performance but may be better in resell value and keep you on the edge of technology)

Thanks everyone! Yeah, It would be nice to get the Studio XPS16 and stay on edge of technology. But, I am on a budget. I have 900USD. And TRUST ME the m1530 is a way better then what I have right now.

    I am using a latitude C800.

well the m1530 is a cool machine, but its very old.... and its about to get cut off from the manufacturing plant, right now, if i were on a budget i would get the studio 15, witch is actually cheaper, but has the same appearance of the m1530. ( not to mention it has a super awesome backlit keyboard! )

You should also check out the outlet store.

I would check out the outlet...I got my SXPS16 when they were running the 15% off for around 630 plus tax. I do have a few small issues that Dell is working on but for the price this is a crazy nice machine. Just so you can compare I have a P8600, 4GB, Vista 64bit, Intel wireless, BT, DVD combo drive and 320GB 7200rpm drive and the standard screen. For me the screen was a non issue since I will be using it to drive my LCD TV. I had also wanted to get a Blu-ray drive but found the increase in price was as much or more through Dell than buying aftermarket. And I figured it will only drop in time and maybe I can get a burner eventually. So even without the 15% off you can still get a nice machine at your price point with a full warranty.

Well great! Now the more I look at the Studio XPS16 the more I want that one. Nothing in the Dell outlet for Studio XPS16. If I could just find I way to get the 1099.00 for 900.00

Will keep looking at the outlet thank you!

XPS M1730 price came down to 999 with 87m SLI. Thats kind a cheap price for that beast. Also 88m SLI is available for 350+ upgrade.
    You can check on that.
