With my desktop PC I had Realtek audio which came with Realtek Control Panel. With that software I was able to use "speaker fill" so when hooking up my PC to my 7.1 home theater I was able to get sound out of all the speakers. I would matrix my music and any video files(stereo) up to 7.1. The IDT audio control panel with this laptop is completely useless as far as I can tell. It also doesn't seem to have an effects option (auditorium, concert hall,arena.etc). Is there any other program I can download to matrix my audio and add location effects? Thanks.

Go to Sound in Control Panel. Select ATI HDMI and go to Properties>Enhancements. You should be able to select the Virtual surround checkbox.

If that doesn't work (or you don't see the virtual surround checkbox) install the latest ATI HDMI drivers from the latest software thread
